An educator and lifelong learner, Yuki has built her life around helping young people grow with confidence, curiosity, and purpose. Her own international education began at home and continued through Seisen International School in Tokyo, Boston College (B.A.), and Loyola Marymount University (M.Ed.)—experiences that shaped her belief that great teaching can open doors and transform lives.
Yuki began her career with Teach For America, serving under-resourced schools in South Los Angeles and working to expand educational equity. After five years teaching English and serving as a Gifted and Talented Education Coordinator, she joined ʻIolani School in Hawaiʻi in 2007, where she continues to teach English in the Upper School. Believing that education is a gateway to opportunity and a wider world, Yuki aims to help her students discover their voice and passion so they can meet the challenges of today with confidence and purpose. Grateful for the excellent teachers who have guided her, beginning with her parents, she strives to pay that forward by empowering her own students.
A proud mother of two, including a kindergartner at ʻIolani, Yuki shares her life with her husband, a fellow educator and steadfast supporter. They remind her daily of the importance of living meaningfully. Through Basso & Basso Consulting, she hopes to help families find not only great schools, but the right fit where every child can thrive and cultivate a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.
