A proud graduate of Nishimachi International School and The American School in Japan, Lilian grew up in Tokyo as a true third-culture kid — shaped by multiple worlds and united by a deep appreciation for diversity, belonging, and human connection. Her international school roots continue to guide her belief that great education extends beyond academics — it’s about the communities that help children grow in confidence and a sense of belonging.
Lilian earned her BA from Johns Hopkins University and dual MBA/MA degrees from the Wharton School and the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. Professionally, she has built a global career spanning both corporate and entrepreneurial ventures, holding leadership roles at J.P. Morgan Securities, Citibank, and Estée Lauder across Tokyo, London, and New York, and helping launch JINS Eyewear’s U.S. business. She now leads account management at top New York creative agencies including Wieden+Kennedy and Gretel.
Now based in New Jersey with her three young children, Lilian remains deeply connected to the international education community. Her children attend both local public school on the weekdays and Japanese school on weekends—reflecting her belief in cultivating global perspectives from an early age. Through her work with Basso & Basso families, she hopes to help children find school environments where they can thrive — and feel truly at home in the world.
