OUR STORY
Basso & Basso Consulting began with a simple idea between brother and sister — Yo and Yuki Basso — two Tokyo-born, bicultural kids who grew up surrounded by influential teachers both at home and at school, immersed in the transformative spirit of international education. Having experienced firsthand how international schools shaped our lives, opened our minds, and connected us to the world, we always knew we wanted to one day give back to the community that gave us so much.
Yuki, a twelve-year veteran of Seisen International School, has dedicated her career to teaching, mentoring, and guiding students. With degrees from Boston College and Loyola Marymount University, and experience as an English teacher and admissions reader and interviewer at ʻIolani School in Honolulu, she’s spent years helping families bridge cultures — especially those from Japan, Korea, and China — and feel a sense of belonging in new educational environments. Now raising her daughter at ʻIolani School, Yuki continues to live her belief in the power of international education every day. Her unique ability to empathize with both Eastern and Western families embodies the heart of B&B’s mission.
Yo, a St. Mary’s International School alumnus and UC Berkeley MBA, built his career leading global marketing and technology ventures before returning to what mattered most — education, family, and community. Married to an ASIJ alumna and now raising two children at The American School in Japan (ASIJ), Yo has seen firsthand how international schools continue to inspire new generations of globally minded students. He wanted to take his professional experience and channel it toward a more meaningful mission: helping families access the same opportunities that had once shaped his own life.
Together, we created Basso & Basso Consulting (B&B) with a simple mission — to make international school admissions more transparent, supportive, and accessible to all families. As demand for international education in Asia-Pacific continues to soar, the process has grown more complex and competitive. B&B was created to guide families through that journey with empathy, strategy, and deep insider knowledge — helping more children find their place in schools that will change their lives, just as those schools changed ours.
